Since CMLC completed Stage 1 in 2012, RiverWalk has become one of the city’s best-loved public spaces, used year-round for recreation, commuting and socializing. Along the Bow River’s edge, it connects Centre Street to Fort Calgary and then follows the Elbow River from the confluence to 9th Avenue SE. Long term plans will see the extension of the riverside promenade into The C+E, ultimately adding two more kilometres to RiverWalk.
Stage 2 of CMLC’s RiverWalk project will extend the multiuse, active-transportation pathway past 9th Avenue SE to MacDonald Bridge.
This extension to the city’s beloved RiverWalk will be designed within the context of the rapidly unfolding Rivers District Master Plan.
