Senior Manager, Corporate Communications
Marketing & Communications
Reporting to the Director of Communications & External Relations, the Senior Manager of Communications will be a dynamic leader, responsible for managing a diverse range of communication strategies for the organization. Working within CMLC’s Marketing and Communications team, the Senior Manager will have team management and cross-functional coordination responsibilities, and will manage and support the execution of CMLC’s strategic plan priorities and annual communications strategy to generate awareness of the organization’s role as a community-builder, and to support the delivery of the East Village and Rivers District master plan visions. Senior Manager will manage, execute and evaluate the success of corporate and project communications strategies, and will work with internal and external project teams to advance awareness of major CMLC-led city-building investments, including but not limited to the Arts Commons and Olympic Plaza Transformations. The Senior Manager will play an integral role as a strategic interface between CMLC project partners, community partners and interest-holders to ensure project information is delivered consistently and effectively throughout the life cycle of the project. The Senior Manager will also support the delivery of external community engagement programs in support of CMLC’s community development planning, and of the organization’s broader corporate communication strategies, including but not limited to earned media, speaking engagements, and internal communications. The successful candidate will work as a contributing team member to conceptualize, support and deliver communication, engagement and placemaking initiatives in the communities in which CMLC works. Finally, the Senior Manager has high energy levels and can manage a range of tasks and priorities throughout the day. Attention to detail and accuracy is fundamental, and the Senior Manager will not hesitate to go beyond the bare minimum to ensure the job is completed effectively and efficiently. Management & Department Support / Administration Qualifications: Person Specifications Mission Critical Competencies - Communications Planning - Strategic Thinking - Managing Performance - Organizational Savvy - Sense of Urgency Key Functional Skills - Management/Leadership - Public Relations - Governance - Problem Solving - Integrity & Ethics Desired Education - Possess post-secondary education/degree in business and/or communications and/or Public Relations or equivalent Essential Relevant Experience 8-10 years of Communications/Public Relations experience Experience in construction, design, land or real estate development industry considered an asset Experience and competencies in: - Developing an integrated communications and engagement strategies - Overall communication skills as demonstrated by written communications and public speaking - Implementing communications plans to increase brand awareness and recognition for the organization - Earned media strategy to identify opportunities and secure media coverage - Writing media releases and pitches for local and national media - Monitoring media stories relating to the company and its brand, maximizing opportunities for positive PR and addressing negative PR - Analyzing current communications and messaging and ensuring consistency - Developing and leading internal communications strategy - Communicating brand to internal and external partners and interest-holders - Overseeing project communication budgets and maximizing budget allocation -Managing and coordinating agencies and vendors – media, copywriters, photographers, etc. High level of management skills -Ability to organize, direct, motivate cross-functional team members -Strong communication and interpersonal skills -Strong organizational and administrative skills -Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality Please direct all inquiries and applications to careers@calgarymlc.ca We thank all applicants for their interest.
