Introducing Placemakers: An EV Speaker Series
Be part of CMLC’s series of conversations, lectures and events celebrating the power of placemaking in East Village.
- Learn how placemaking creates thriving urban communities, with an innovative mix of public spaces, residential development, urban-format retail and public art.
- See how CMLC’s placemaking strategy is delivering one of the most ambitious master-planned inner-city developments in North America.
- Meet the artists and architects, planners and communicators who have transformed East Village into one of the most desirable neighbourhoods downtown.
On May 19, you’re invited to learn about the role of public art in the emerging identity of East Village. Join CMLC and our special guests:
- Ron Moppett, a Calgary artist whose 110 ft. long, million mosaic tile installation THESAMEWAYBETTER/READER brings Riverfront Lane SE to brilliant life;
- Daniel J. Kirk, part of a Calgary art collective that told a story about the history and future of Calgary on the bridge abutments along RiverWalk as part of CMLC's curated art program
- Patrick Marold (Denver), whose innovative sound sculpture will help the future National Music Centre speak to all the senses.
...and a surprise Canadian guest artist whose work will soon be an unforgettable part of a rejuvenated St. Patrick’s Island.
East Village is changing the conversation about living in downtown Calgary. Join the PLACEMAKERS Speaker Series and find out how.
